Vojt\u011bch Pl\u00e1t<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>(pictured above) and\u00a0Karolina Pilsova<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>won the Czech chess championship that took place\u00a0in Zlin, a city in southeastern Moravia. Both events were ten-player round-robins with classical time control running from September 11-19 (women) and September 17-26 (open).<\/p>

With two top-rated Czech players\u00a0(<\/strong>David Navara and Viktor Laznicka)\u00a0<\/strong>missing in the open competition, Vojt\u011bch Pl\u00e1t had a great showing. The 27-year old GM from Prostejov scored 6\u00bd points, earned the second national title in his career and became the only unbeaten participant in the tournament.<\/p>

GMs\u00a0\u0160t\u011bp\u00e1n \u017dilka<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Jan Krej\u010d\u00ed<\/strong>\u00a0finished just a half point behind the champion. \u017dilka who had a slightly better Sonneborn-Berger took silver, whearas Krej\u010d\u00ed had to settle for bronze.<\/p>
