The Absolute Individual National Championship of Sao Tome and Principe was held from March 03-19, 2022. The open event consisted of two stages: the semifinals and the Grand Final.\u00a0<\/p>

The highest-rated participant of the open section\u00a0Sergio Pereira<\/strong>\u00a0lived up to his reputation and convincingly won the competition conceding his opponent just a half-point.\u00a0Waldyr Esp\u00edrito Santo<\/strong>\u00a0finished one and a half points behind the champion and took silver; the bronze winner\u00a0Admilton de Ceita dos Santos<\/strong>\u00a0scored 6 points.\u00a0<\/p>

With these results, the top four qualified for the national team to represent Sao Tome and Principe at Chess Olympiad that will take place in Chennai (India) this July.<\/p>
